Tell universities: Divest now and protect student protesters!
Last week, I visited Columbia University campus and saw the Popular University for Gaza encampment that sparked the current student uprising around the world.
These fierce students are leading the way in our movement and recapturing our imaginations in the fight for liberation.
Only a few days later, thousands of heavily militarized police officers violently attacked the brave students who had occupied a campus building and renamed it Hind’s Hall—after the 6-year-old Palestinian girl martyr Hind Rajab. The cops threw student protesters down the stairs and brutalized them.
University administrations like Columbia, under pressure from Congress and Genocide Joe, have directly put their students in danger by smearing their principled protests and inviting cops to campus—which has incited racism and violence against them.
Take action now to defend student protesters! Email university administrators to demand that they divest from apartheid Israel and stop repressing student activism.
Students have always led social and political change, from the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War to South African apartheid and Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. As they’ve risen up with Palestine, they’ve been met with police brutality, academic punishments, blocking of food and water, and mass arrests of 2,000+ students.
This repression has only strengthened students' resolve to resist. All eyes are on Gaza, where Israel is threatening a full-scale invasion of Rafah to massacre and forcibly remove 1.5 million Palestinian refugees.
We must all fight back against the repression of the student intifada and our wider movement for Palestinian liberation. Email university administrators now to support our students and their demands for divestment.
Stay focused and keep fighting. Our movement is unstoppable, and we will win.
In solidarity,
