Trump’s Plan To Expel Palestinians From Gaza Must Be Defeated
A message from our Executive Director, Ahmad Abuznaid.
Did you see the news about Trump’s plans for Gaza last night? Donald Trump hosted international war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House this week. Last night, Trump threatened to permanently expel all 2 million Palestinians from Gaza.
Trump’s Plan For Gaza: U.S. Ownership
This time, Trump claimed that the U.S. will steal and colonize Gaza, describing a “long-term ownership position.”¹
I want to be very clear: This plan is a settler colonial land grab. This is a continuation of Israel’s genocide.
Anyone who believes that Palestinians will leave Gaza doesn't understand the relationship that Indigenous people have with their native homeland.
The love for our land runs deeper than colonizers could ever imagine. Our steadfast people refuse to be uprooted.
We must mobilize alongside Palestinians to defeat this ludicrous, illegal, and cruel ethnic cleansing plan.
What’s The Point In Emailing Congress?
I know that many in our movement are tired of contacting Congress, and for good reason. Most members of Congress have proven to be complicit in this genocide every step of the way.
I have 3 important points to share on why it still matters, in combination with strategic direct actions, divestment campaigns, and long-term local organizing.
Some elected officials are starting to fight back.
Recent controversies around the federal funding freeze of programs like Medicaid and Head Start have shown that some elected officials are willing to resist Trump’s autocratic power grabs. This is a moment to demand they stand up to Trump on Palestine as well.
There is no chance elected officials will move unless we make as much noise on this issue as possible.
We must remind our elected officials that we are paying attention, that we will hold them accountable, and that this issue is important to their constituents, or they will be distracted and divided by each of Trump’s attacks.
Trump’s comments are the latest in a series of Zionist, racist pipe dreams.
We are focused on our longterm, north star objective of ending U.S. military funding to Israel, and we won’t be distracted as Trump attempts to sow chaos. Keep working to build power (electorally, financially, and organizationally) day in and day out until our demands are met.
Trump has manufactured this political chaos of constant threats and attacks to overwhelm us. I know that makes it hard to envision a liberated future now. But all major civil rights and liberatory wins throughout history have been won against steep odds, when most folks counted out freedom fighters.
How Palestine Will Win
To fight back, we’ll need to stand in solidarity with oppressed peoples everywhere, leverage our collective knowledge, and organize like our futures depend on it—because they do.
February is Black History & Futures Month, and yesterday’s news is a stark reminder that our struggle for liberation is interwoven with every domestic and global movement for justice and liberation.
Trump may have won the election, but he did so without a mandate. His idea is unpopular at best. 61% of all Americans support halting U.S. military funding to Israel. Only a slim minority of extreme Zionists will want to see the U.S. occupy Gaza.
Despite Trump’s current chaos, the will of the people is clear: We want to fund care for our communities, not militarized policing at home and killing Palestinian families abroad.
Onward to liberation,
AHMAD ABUZNAID
Executive Director
