Ceasefire statement: End Israel’s Impunity, Arms Embargo Now
Ahmad Abuznaid, Executive Director of the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action), has released the following statement on the just-announced ceasefire deal on Jan. 15, 2025.
"A permanent ceasefire is sorely needed for Palestinian people in Gaza fighting to survive each day of this horrific genocide, and yet, it is absolutely absurd and shameful that a deal, which we await the full details of, took this long. The era of Israel's impunity must now come to a swift end.
Every perpetrator must be held accountable at the Hague, including the Biden administration officials who funded and enabled acts of genocide. Every displaced Palestinian must be ensured the right to return to their home and land. Rebuilding and humanitarian aid must proceed with the greatest urgency amid genocidal conditions. That will require ending Israel's illegal siege on Gaza and military occupation of Palestine.
The U.S. must immediately place an arms embargo on Israel to prevent it from ever mass murdering Palestinians again."
