U.S. Palestine Advocacy Org Will ‘Keep Fighting No Matter What’ After the 2024 Presidential Election

Washington, DC, November 5, 2024—Regardless of who wins the 2024 presidential election, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action (USCPR Action) will continue to fight for a free Palestine and collective liberation. USCPR Action has led advocacy demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to all U.S. military funding to Israel, and an end to U.S. complicity in Israel’s military occupation of Palestine.

“Either way, we will have an opponent in the White House,” said Ahmad Abuznaid, Executive Director of the USCPR Action. “Both political parties want to arm Israel with more weapons for genocide, increase deadly border militarization, and expand Cop Cities with militarized policing across the country. Get ready to fight for the sake of all our communities.”

Public polling has remained clear throughout this election cycle: A 77% majority of Democratic voters, and 61% majority of all voters, support withdrawing U.S. military funding from Israel. Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris would have significantly gained votes in key swing states if she supported this popular and commonsense demand. Swing voters still remain very persuadable if Harris were to enact an arms embargo.

Harris and her campaign refused to listen to the majority of Democratic voters, doubling down on arming Israel and adopting an electoral strategy that shifted to the right to court Republican voters with Dick Cheney’s endorsement. Her disregard for human rights and her own voter base has led to an unnecessarily close race against fascist former president Donald Trump.

The Biden-Harris administration has funded 70% of this genocide, sending $17.9 billion in military funding to Israel since October 2023. That $17.9 billion would be enough to end homelessness three times over with public housing for 21.3 million households for a year, based on USCPR’s Not My Tax Dollars map methodology.

“The American public has been watching the horrors of this genocide livestreamed on their phones for 13 months,” said Abuznaid. “They know it’s funded by the billions with their tax dollars, while they struggle to buy groceries and recover from climate disasters. Stop arming Israel and fund our communities now.”

At times, when protesters have confronted Harris over her genocidal policies, she has attempted to shirk responsibility by threatening them with a Trump presidency. USCPR Action firmly rejects any attempt to scapegoat marginalized communities for elected leaders’ failures to change policy.

Politicians attack our solidarity because they know the power of it,” said Iman Abid, USCPR Action Organizing & Advocacy Director. “We refuse to be pitted against one another. Reject U.S.-funded genocide, regardless of who is the Killer-in-Chief. Refuse to be pacified by empty words while our communities suffer at home and abroad. Keep fighting no matter what.”

USCPR Action continues to demand an immediate arms embargo to cut off the endless supply of U.S. weapons to Israel. Palestinians in Gaza cannot wait another minute while their lives are on the line.
